Bluetooth Low energy student tracking solution

In today’s advanced world Bluetooth is a must have wireless technology to everyone. It helped us creating a new era of wireless technology. In 2001, Nokia’s researchers show various scenarios that normal wireless technologies did not use address. So the company develop a technology adapting Bluetooth with low power usage and cost, resulting Bluetooth Low End Extension in 2004. After further development it was released to public under the name Wibree by Nokia in October 2006. In June 2007 it was included as Bluetooth ultra-low-power technology, as known as Bluetooth Smart Technology. It was merged into main Bluetooth standard in 2010 with Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0.

We can use Bluetooth Low energy to track students by integrating into a campus card programme. It can be designed to communicate between devices with reduced power consumption programme. Smartphones can also connect to BLE through using a BLE beacon. These beacons can be used to provide information.

Bluetooth Smart is not backward-compatible. Mobile OS like, iPhone, Android, Windows, BlackBerry natively support Bluetooth Smart. This native support enables easy development of application. According to Bluetooth SIG more than 90% of Bluetooth enabled smartphones will support Bluetooth Smart by 2018. Manufacturers are implementing the specifications to ensure compatibility for new devices. Over past few years several Bluetooth low energy chip makers, introduced their optimized Bluetooth Smart chips.

Some features of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE):-

  • Connect low power applications to a Smartphone or Tablet.
